To fulfill players' desire to enjoy Lu Bu's storyline and have more replayability, the stories for seven characters including Lu Bu, Meng Huo, and Yuan Shao were added, as well as bodyguard customization, the addition of a fifth weapon, and four new challenges in Challenge Mode. Through "MIX JOY," the bodyguard customization and Very Hard difficulty could be played in DYNASTY WARRIORS 3, as well as unlocking a fifth weapon for all officers appearing in the game.
